Spring 1985 The Los Osos/Morro Bay Chapter of Small Wilderness Area Preser-vation is organized.
June 1988 Assemblyman Eric Seastrand authors legislation to add 52 acres of the Elfin Forest to Morro Bay State Park.
April 1991 The asking price for the remaining 38 acres is $3 million.
June 1992 A proposal for $500,000 from CalTrans budget for environmental projects is ranked #1.
April 1993 An appraisal places a fair market value of $1.6 million on the remaining acres.
June 1993 SWAP successfully raises $100,000 in matching funds.
August 1993 The Elfin Forest receives a $500,000 federal grant.
August 1993 The Elfin Forest receives a $100,000 grant from the State Lands Commission.
December 1993 The Elfin Forest receives a $250,000 grant from Coastal Conservancy.
April 1994 SWAP raises $84,000 from local donations. The SLO County Board of Supervisors provides the funding to complete the purchase.
SWAP agrees to develop and implement a management plan for the Elfin Forest.
June 1994 The Elfin Forest is acquired by SLO County Parks as an ecological reserve.
