North of San Simeon on the 101 is a beautiful habitat of Elephant Seals.  This is the time of year (March) that you can have a real life peek into the lives and habitat of the great Elephant Seal.  They are enormous!  And also cute.  You can see them sunbathing on the sand along the cost of Cambria.  There are spots that you can park and then walk above the beach and have a close up view of them.  But please do not go onto the beach.  If disturbed they could get aggressive.  So always keep your distance for your safety and the well being of the elephant seals.
